Procurement Decisions
Single Destination vs Split Apparel Shipment: Choose the Receiving Plan
A shipment plan should state whether all styles go to one destination or are split, and map every style, size, carton label and receiving contact to its destination.
MyOwnWear buyer guide · Project-specific confirmation required
List destinations against order lines
Create a matrix of style, color, size allocation, destination and receiving contact. Identify whether the split is by complete style, carton or unit. A single total quantity cannot communicate how goods should be separated for multiple receiving locations.
Define carton and label instructions
State which destination code appears on each carton and whether carton contents must be homogeneous or mixed. Attach any receiving label template and confirm whether it is buyer-supplied. Keep marks legible and consistent with the packing list rather than relying on an email description.
Assign exception handling
Name who resolves a short carton, label mismatch, address change or incomplete delivery record. Identify who approves a reroute and how the change is documented. Do not imply that a supplier or carrier has agreed to a delivery schedule until the responsible party confirms it.
Compare operational effort before choosing
Ask the supplier to quote or confirm each routing option separately, including packing and documentation assumptions. Consider receiving capacity and downstream allocation work. Send the destination matrix with the RFQ and ask the supplier to identify any unconfirmed shipping inputs.
Buyer decision record
Record the garment style, material or trim reference, sample size, revision and the question being decided. If the supplier proposes a change, ask for the changed layer order, measurement or artwork location in a marked response before treating the quote or sample as comparable.
