Flat-Fold vs Hanger Delivery: Choose for the Receiving Workflow
Choose flat-fold or hanger delivery according to the receiver’s accepted handling process and the garment’s presentation needs. Confirm whether garments remain on hangers during transport or are simply supplied with loose hangers. Request an actual packing proposal and route-specific measurements; neither format is inherently cheaper or less damaging in every shipment.
For operations buyers aligning garment delivery with a receiving workflow.
Ask the receiver what arrives at the dock
Identify whether the destination accepts cartons, a garment-on-hanger transport arrangement or another specified format. Ask about unloading, storage and the next handling step. If the receiver immediately removes hangers, record that operational consequence before selecting a presentation. This decision concerns delivery form and equipment compatibility, not the detailed fold order already addressed by a pack-out instruction.
Distinguish hanger supply from hanging transport
A hanger inside a carton does not mean the garment traveled suspended. Ask the supplier or logistics provider to show how the garment is supported, protected and contained in the proposed movement. Include the hanger type only when relevant to that arrangement. Do not infer suitability for a distribution center from a photograph of a garment on a display rail.
Compare proposals using actual receiving and route inputs
Request external dimensions, unit count, packing materials and handling assumptions for each feasible option. Ask the appropriate carrier or forwarder to quote the real arrangement rather than estimating a freight saving from garment volume alone. Review a representative packed sample for presentation on arrival. Keep any preference provisional until the destination and transport provider confirm that the proposed format is accepted.
Decision and evidence checklist
| Decision | Include in the brief | Review evidence |

What this brief does and does not establish
No freight rate, damage rate or receiver compatibility is asserted. Obtain actual destination requirements and transport quotations for the proposed arrangement.

Buyer questions
Is flat-fold always the lower-cost choice?
No universal cost result is established. Compare the actual packing, route and handling proposal.
Does including a hanger mean garment-on-hanger delivery?
Not necessarily. Confirm how the garment is supported during transport and accepted at the destination.
What is deliberately outside this comparison?
The precise folding sequence, bag layout and carton assortment need their own instructions after the delivery form is selected.
