Garment Measurement Landmark Maps: Make POMs Reproducible
A reproducible measurement callout names the garment state, orientation, landmark endpoints, method and sample version, with the diagram aligned to the measurement table.
MyOwnWear buyer guide · Project-specific confirmation required
Name the garment state
State whether the garment is laid flat, closed, relaxed or otherwise prepared before measuring. Identify the size and sample version. Measurements from a worn garment, a flat sample and a pattern can describe different states, so the table should say which one controls the review.
Draw endpoints on the actual view
Use arrows, dots or a shaded line to show the start and end landmark for each point of measure. Name the side and orientation where front and back could be confused. Avoid relying on abbreviations unless the same document defines them.
Separate target from tolerance
List the requested finished measurement and its tolerance in distinct fields. Do not turn an observed sample difference into a general tolerance rule. Identify whether a point is critical, visual or informational and who decides if a deviation is acceptable.
Use the map in a sample review
Measure the labeled sample using the documented state and compare each point to its target. Record tool, result, reviewer and any uncertainty. Attach a photo of difficult landmarks and return a marked table so the next sample uses the same measurement path.
Buyer decision record
Record the garment style, material or trim reference, sample size, revision and the question being decided. If the supplier proposes a change, ask for the changed layer order, measurement or artwork location in a marked response before treating the quote or sample as comparable.

Buyer questions
Does a POM acronym define exactly where to measure?
Not by itself. Include a diagram with endpoints and garment state.
Should target and tolerance be one number?
Keep the target and allowed tolerance distinct, and identify the approval owner.
