Diagonal Half-Zip Tees: Map the Opening Beyond the Front View
A diagonal half-zip tee needs an opening map with both endpoints and the inside exposure shown. Do not approve only the diagonal line on the front. Ask how the proposed assembly behaves when open, closed and pulled on, and confirm the actual jersey and zipper before releasing the construction.
For jersey designers developing an asymmetric streetwear T-shirt opening.
Define the diagonal from fixed landmarks
Locate the upper and lower endpoints against identified garment landmarks rather than giving an angle alone. Mark whether the top endpoint joins the neckline or stops below it. State the intended opening side and show the wearer orientation to avoid a mirrored interpretation. A diagonal rendering can communicate the look, but the developer still needs to propose the pattern and assembly. Keep endpoint comments separate from the overall body fit specification.
Show what becomes visible when opened
Draw the inside of the opening in the intended unzipped styling state. Identify exposed tape, edges and any layer meant to sit between the zipper and wearer. Do not infer the finish from a fully closed photograph. Ask for a sample view that is not held open by clips unless those clips are disclosed. Record which visible surfaces need aesthetic approval and which assembly details require closer physical handling.
Review the lower stop with the jersey relaxed
Observe the lower termination without stretching the tee flat for the camera. Record any local distortion as a sample-specific finding and identify whether it appears closed, open or after putting the garment on. Ask the developer to explain a proposed revision before adding an arbitrary stabilizer or changing a seam setting. The selected zipper, surrounding layers and jersey should remain identified together so the next sample can be compared meaningfully.
Confirm access before repeating the option
Review the opening sequence and head passage in the intended wearing configuration. Do not assume an asymmetric opening behaves like a straight center-front opening from another style. If the detail will be offered across sizes or materials, ask how the developer proposes to validate those variants. Release the reviewed endpoint map, inside appearance and material combination together. Any marketing claim about ease of dressing or comfort should remain outside approval unless separately supported.
Decision and evidence checklist
| Decision | Include in the brief | Review evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Location | Both endpoints and wearer orientation | Marked garment drawing |
| Exposure | Open-state tape and inside edges | Unassisted open sample view |
| Release | Jersey, zipper and endpoint revision | Configuration-specific approval |
What this brief does and does not establish
This is an asymmetric jersey development brief, not a validated pattern or a comfort claim. MyOwnWear zipper sourcing, construction and sample availability require confirmation.

Buyer questions
Can an angle alone specify the opening?
No. Give identifiable upper and lower endpoints, the opening side and the intended relationship to the neckline.
Does a zipper sample approve the tee?
No. Review the zipper assembled with the proposed jersey, opening finish and garment configuration.
Should every size inherit one sample decision?
Do not assume so. Ask for a size-development and validation proposal for any variants that will be offered.
