Detachable Peplum on a Streetwear Jacket: Define Both Wear States

Approve the base jacket without its peplum and the complete attached look as separate states. Define the waist interface, attachment direction and accessory packing so a removable design does not depend on an unreviewed connection.

For product developers preparing a modular jacket inquiry.

Draw the base jacket without the extra layer

Show the waist finish that remains visible when the peplum is removed. Mark whether attachment elements may be exposed, covered or hidden behind another edge. Include the front opening and side views in this base-state drawing. A full outfit photograph can conceal these details beneath the accessory. Ask the supplier to flag any proposed change to the base waist before sampling, rather than treating it as a minor accessory adjustment.

Define the connection around the waist

Mark where the attachment begins and ends, including any gap at the front opening. Show the intended left and right orientation on both pieces. If the connection is segmented, identify each segment instead of drawing a continuous line that implies a different assembly. Request a supplier proposal for the fastening system and its placement. Do not assume a reference image proves that the proposed materials can support the same removable construction.

Review the attached silhouette and operation together

Ask for views with the peplum fully connected, partly detached for explanation, and removed from the jacket. Review whether the intended front opening remains usable in the attached state. Have the sample reviewer follow the documented attachment sequence without a hidden helper step. Record any snag, ambiguous orientation or inaccessible connection as an observation to resolve. A successful demonstration is evidence for that sample only, not a general durability certification.

Keep the detachable piece in the packing decision

Assign an accessory identifier and state whether the peplum travels attached, separately bagged or in another agreed arrangement. Match its size relationship to the jacket explicitly; do not leave packers to infer compatibility from color alone. Include a receiving check that both pieces belong to the same set. If spare accessories are ordered, distinguish them from complete garments on the packing list and in the commercial quantity agreement.

What this brief does and does not establish

The peplum is an inquiry concept, not an advertised stocked service. Attachment strength, wear suitability, cleaning instructions and available fastening systems remain subject to material and sample confirmation.

Buyer questions

Can the attached look be the only approval?

No; request a separate base-state review if the jacket is intended to be sold or worn without the peplum.

Does the interface need a drawing?

Provide landmarks and orientation even when the fastening hardware remains a supplier proposal, so competing proposals address the same design.

How should spares be described?

List detachable peplums as separate accessory quantities, with compatibility references, rather than silently counting them as complete jacket sets.
