Removable Faux-Fur Hood Trim: Specify the Mounting, Ends and Bare Hood
Specify removable faux-fur trim as a separate hood-edge component with a matched mounting route, defined endpoints and an approved bare-hood state. Keep its material identity and care decisions separate from a visual reference. Removing the trim is not the same interface as removing the hood.
For outerwear developers planning a removable decorative hood-edge trim.
Separate the trim and hood records
Assign a component reference to the detachable trim and show which hood version it matches. Mark the intended outside and inside of the trim base, including any orientation that becomes hard to see through the pile. If the trim is handed or has a center reference, label it. Ask for confirmation of the proposed material composition rather than treating a reference photograph as proof that a particular faux-fur material is available.
Map the complete mounting route
Show the route around the hood opening with a center point and both endpoints. Identify how the proposed attachment aligns and where it stops relative to the hood closure. Request a mounting demonstration on the actual sample. A row of fasteners can look compatible in separate photographs while its spacing or orientation remains unresolved. If a continuous fastener is proposed, keep its matched parts and opening direction recorded as part of the assembly.
Inspect the ends and surrounding closures
Review how the pile and base finish at each end, particularly near drawcords, collar closures or the front zip. Ask for a close view with the trim attached and detached. Record any interference as a named location and component combination. Do not prescribe a hidden fixing method from a styled image. The supplier response should show how the proposed endpoint is finished and how the wearer can distinguish the correct mounting orientation.
Approve the hood without its trim
Check the exposed mounting parts, hood-edge appearance and contact surfaces in the bare state. Confirm whether the trim ships attached or in separate packaging, and how the matching reference will be maintained. Care instructions must follow confirmed component materials and an agreed care assessment. A removable design does not automatically mean machine washability or any particular cleaning route. Keep the appearance approval separate from unresolved composition, care or fastening-performance questions.
Decision and evidence checklist
| Decision | Include in the brief | Review evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Identity | Trim reference and matching hood revision | Paired component record |
| Mounting | Center, endpoints and attachment orientation | Complete route view |
| Bare state | Exposed fixing and edge finish | Trim-off hood sample |
What this brief does and does not establish
No real-fur content, composition, animal-welfare certification, washability or attachment rating is inferred. This is a development-interface guide, not proof of a service or material supply. Ask MyOwnWear to confirm feasibility and the evidence available for the proposed trim.
Include the hood-edge drawing, trim-off appearance and desired mounting route with the outerwear inquiry. Open the MyOwnWear RFQ form.
Buyer questions
Is this a detachable-hood specification?
No. It addresses removal of the decorative trim from the hood edge.
Can the photo establish material composition?
No. Request identification of the actual proposed faux-fur material.
Does removability establish washing instructions?
No. Care needs confirmation for each component and the intended handling route.
