Reversible Sequin Patches: Approve Both Faces and Changeover
Approve a reversible sequin patch in each intended face and during the transition between them. Define the artwork on both sides, inspect incomplete changeover near edges and test the proposed attachment on the garment. A supplier photograph of one face does not establish the second graphic, wearer contact or care performance.
For streetwear designers commissioning interactive surface decoration.
Separate the two artwork states
Give each intended face a distinct artwork reference. Show which way is considered upright and whether the two faces share the same visible boundary. Avoid approving one graphic through a color-name description of the other. Ask the decoration supplier to identify what detail can be represented before committing to small lettering or a complex two-sided image.
Review the changeover rather than only endpoints
Request a short demonstration moving the proposed patch from one display to the other. Observe areas that remain mixed and the action needed to change them. Do not infer a universal defect limit from the effect name. Agree which mixed areas are intentional, which require correction and which sample state will be photographed for final approval.
Inspect the perimeter separately
Look closely at the last visible rows, corners and attachment edge. Ask how the patch edge is finished and how it meets the base garment. Review the border in both faces because a perimeter that looks aligned in one display can read differently in the other. Identify any backing or attachment line that should remain hidden.
Check the backing against the garment
Ask for the proposed backing and attachment construction on the actual fabric, not only a loose decoration card. Examine the garment reverse and any area that contacts the wearer. If a lining or cover is proposed, include it in the sample and quotation. Do not describe comfort or suitability for every wearer from a tabletop photograph.
Keep care evidence tied to the combination
Request an agreed care review of the patch, attachment and garment together. Record the method actually used and compare both display states before and after. Check for changed appearance or operation without inventing a durability rating. Instructions for a similar decoration are not automatically evidence for the proposed backing, base fabric and attachment combination.
Preserve approval state in packing instructions
Identify which face should show at final inspection and packing. Keep photographs of both approved graphics so a mixed display is not mistaken for the wrong artwork. Ask how the surface will be protected in the proposed packout. Confirm sample feasibility, supply and costs separately; the checklist does not promise that a particular two-face design is manufacturable.
Decision and evidence checklist
| Decision | Include in the brief | Review evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Artwork | Named references for both faces | Two approved display photos |
| Transition | Expected operation and edge behavior | Observed changeover |
| Attachment | Base fabric, backing and seam | Garment reverse review |
What this brief does and does not establish
No sequin size, attachment recipe, care rating or MyOwnWear production capability is asserted. The proposed combination must be reviewed and quoted.
Share both artwork states and the intended garment with MyOwnWear; request a patch feasibility review and an attached sample. Open the MyOwnWear RFQ form.
