Zipper Garage Coverage for Custom Hoodies: What to Specify
Confirm a hoodie zipper garage by marking its exact location, finished dimensions, layer order and wearer-facing finish on the tech pack, then approve the construction on a sample.
MyOwnWear buyer guide · Project-specific confirmation required
Mark the zipper end and the wearer side
Show whether the requested feature covers the top stop, bottom stop or both, and mark the inside and outside views. A sketch should identify the zipper tape, facing or guard layers, stitch line and the edge the wearer can touch. The word garage alone can mean different shapes to different teams; a callout removes that ambiguity.
Define the finished edge, not just the shape
State whether the piece is folded, bound or enclosed, and whether its edge must sit flat against the body. Identify any visible topstitching and its route. If the hood opening, chin or lining meets the feature, show that relationship so the sample reviewer can check bulk and comfort together.
Review movement and closure together
Inspect the zipper through its full travel and check whether the garage catches the slider, exposes a sharp component or shifts away from the marked position. Record the garment size and sample version. A close-up photograph helps compare the approved appearance, but it cannot replace operating the closure on the actual garment.
Put acceptance into the RFQ
Attach a labeled front and inside sketch, zipper reference, edge-finish instruction and an approval photo. Ask the supplier to flag any change in layer count or stitch access before sampling. Link the feature to the hoodie specification rather than leaving it as an untracked note in a chat thread.
Buyer decision record
Record the garment style, material or trim reference, sample size, revision and the question being decided. If the supplier proposes a change, ask for the changed layer order, measurement or artwork location in a marked response before treating the quote or sample as comparable.

Buyer questions
What should a zipper garage drawing show?
The stop being covered, inside and outside views, layers, finished edge, stitch route and neighboring components.
Can a photo alone approve the zipper finish?
A photo can record appearance; operate the zipper and inspect the wearer-facing finish on the sample too.
