Two-Way Zips on Longline Hoodies: Review the Bottom Opening

For a longline hoodie with a two-way front zip, define what the lower opening should do while the upper front remains closed. Show the intended opening states and review them on the assembled garment, including sitting. Confirm the proposed zipper type with the maker rather than assuming any two sliders provide the same opening arrangement.

For streetwear brands developing longline zip-front hoodies.

Draw each required opening state on the full front

Provide a closed view, the intended lower opening and a fully separated front if separation is required. Mark the slider positions and the relationship between the open section and the garment hem. Ask the maker to confirm which proposed assembly supports those states. The words two way do not replace an operating demonstration. Keep the zipper length and the finished front length separately identified so one measurement is not used to infer the other.

Inspect the lower hardware and nearby fabric

Request close-ups of the proposed bottom assembly and the inside front finish. Identify where hem bulk, lining or an internal label could interfere with handling. Check left and right front alignment when the lower section is opened and closed. Do not resolve a hardware problem merely by shortening the hoodie without approval. Ask for a local construction proposal if the intended hem and zipper combination cannot be assembled as drawn.

Make the wearing review include actual operation

Use the same fit reference to open the lower section, sit, stand and close it again. Observe hand access to the sliders and whether the front panels hang as intended. Record the opening used in each photograph rather than comparing unidentified states. Any durability, cycle or force requirement needs a separately agreed verification plan. A successful handling review is useful evidence of that sample’s operation, not a general guarantee for all production units.

What this brief does and does not establish

No zipper model, supplier availability, operating-force threshold or durability rating is asserted. This brief asks for confirmation of the proposed assembly.

Buyer questions

Do two sliders always mean the front separates?

Do not assume that. Confirm the proposed zipper assembly against the required opening states.

Can the zip be selected before the hem is drawn?

Review them together because the lower hardware sits within the finished front construction.

Does an operating sample establish cycle durability?

No. A cycle or force requirement needs its own agreed method and evidence.
