Streetwear Artwork File Brief: Colors, Layers and Placement References

A production-art brief identifies the editable or output file, color intent, design layers, print location and garment reference, while leaving process-specific separations to the confirmed decoration route.

MyOwnWear buyer guide · Project-specific confirmation required

Name the source file and release version

List the file format, version, artboard or page, dimensions and final approval status. Keep source artwork separate from mockups and screen captures. If a font, linked image or effect requires packaging, state what is included and ask the supplier to confirm it can be opened.

Describe colors without pretending screens are physical standards

Record intended color references and identify which are approximate visual guidance versus controlled physical standards. State whether each layer is a spot color, process element, underbase or another production decision only when that is known. Do not infer a decoration method from the art file alone.

Attach a garment placement map

Show the design boundary relative to seams, pockets, neckline, hem and garment size. Identify whether placement is fixed or graded. Keep the artwork file and placement map linked by a shared revision so edits to the design do not silently change the approved location.

Ask the supplier to return a production proof

Request confirmation of openability, scale and any layer or separation changes needed for the proposed craft. Review a proof against the source and garment map before approving the sample. The supplier response should identify unresolved file issues, not conceal them in a rendered mockup.

Buyer decision record

Record the garment style, material or trim reference, sample size, revision and the question being decided. If the supplier proposes a change, ask for the changed layer order, measurement or artwork location in a marked response before treating the quote or sample as comparable.

Evidence scope

The linked references provide terminology or named-method scope only. They do not prove a MyOwnWear capability, a project result, a price, a lead time or a certification. Confirm the actual material, construction and acceptance criteria for the project.

Use this brief in the MyOwnWear RFQ form. Include the style, quantity, current file or sample revision and the decision you need confirmed.

Next step: ask for a written feasibility response that separates confirmed inputs from supplier-proposed alternatives, then approve the relevant sample evidence.

Keep the approved drawing, measurement or photo with the quote record so the same construction can be checked at the next handoff.

Buyer questions

Does an artwork file specify its print process?

Not by itself. Identify the intended decoration route and ask the supplier to confirm production requirements.

Can a mockup replace the source artwork?

No. Keep released artwork and placement map as separate controlled files.
