Pick-Stitch Reference or Embroidery Artwork: Clarify the Intended Edge Detail

Use a pick-stitch reference here to describe the intended small, separated stitch appearance along an edge; use embroidery artwork to define a specified stitched motif. Do not infer the execution method from appearance alone: ask the supplier to identify its proposal and show a sample.

For buyers describing small visible stitches on streetwear jacket edges.

Describe the visible result without guessing the process

Mark the exact edge carrying the detail and identify the part of the reference that matters. Explain whether the interest is the separated stitch rhythm, the route around a corner or a distinct graphic shape. An image may show a similar visual effect produced through different proposals. Keep the reference labeled as an appearance target until the supplier has described how it would be executed. This lets the buyer discuss the result without inadvertently claiming knowledge of an unseen production method.

Decide whether the brief needs artwork or an edge map

For an edge-following intention, show the start, end and path of the visible detail on the garment drawing. For a motif, provide the artwork identity and intended placement rather than asking the supplier to reconstruct a design from a vague stitch name. If both are present, give them separate callouts. A logo near an edge and a stitch line following that edge should not share one ambiguous instruction. Each needs its own review object and approval status.

Ask the supplier to identify the proposed execution

Request a response that names what will be sampled and what remains unresolved. Do not promise hand execution, machine execution or a particular stitch construction from a fashion photograph. If the supplier proposes embroidery to reproduce an edge-detail appearance, ask how that changes the supplied artwork or construction brief. Review the answer against the intended visual result. A familiar label is useful shorthand only after both parties know what the proposed sample actually represents.

Compare the sample at the relevant edge transitions

Request clear views of starts, ends, corners and any change in direction that matters to the design. Include an inside view if it will be visible or if the buyer needs to understand the proposed construction. Record the approved sample identity alongside the appearance notes. A later change of execution should reopen the relevant review instead of relying on an unchanged style name. Keep any performance or care questions outside this visual approval unless separately supported.

What this brief does and does not establish

These are limited reference categories for communicating appearance, not an exhaustive textile classification. No handwork, machinery, authenticity, durability or supplier capability is asserted without confirmation.

Buyer questions

Can a photo prove hand stitching?

No. Ask the supplier to identify its actual proposal rather than treating visual resemblance as proof of execution.

Is every small edge stitch embroidery?

Do not classify solely by appearance. Clarify whether the brief specifies an edge detail, a motif or both, and ask for the execution description.

Does visual approval settle care behavior?

No. Appearance review does not establish care performance or durability; those need a separate evidence scope.
