Handwarmer Pocket Faces: Separate the Contact Surface from the Entry

Name which internal pocket face uses the selected hand-contact material and where it stops. Distinguish that surface from the entry facing and the rest of the pocket bag. A soft-feeling pocket sample does not establish a measured warming function or whole-garment lining specification.

For jacket sourcing teams choosing a localized pocket interior treatment.

Draw a section through the hand path

Show the outside opening, entry facing and internal cavity in a simple section. Label the face toward the body and the face toward the jacket shell. Specify whether the proposed material covers one face, both faces or only a limited patch. Writing “soft pocket lining” leaves these choices unresolved. Ask the developer to return a marked section showing the actual proposed arrangement before approving a small material swatch as the complete pocket treatment.

Locate the material transition

Identify where the contact material meets a different pocket-bag material. Mark whether the join is near the entry, deeper inside or at a side boundary. Request a sample view with the pocket opened for inspection so that an unseen join is not overlooked. If the entry facing remains shell fabric, keep it as a separate component and approval. The hand-contact surface, visible entry and cavity outline each need clear references even when their colors are similar.

Review entry bulk and reach

Try the pocket on the intended jacket sample, not only as a loose bag. Record the hand-entry position, access with the front closed and any interference from a nearby closure. Ask whether the selected material changes the proposed seam or turning arrangement. Avoid assuming that more material is automatically more comfortable. A useful comment describes the actual contact point, ridge or restriction and links it to the sample revision rather than using an unqualified comfort score.

Keep care and claims connected to the chosen material

Include the actual contact material in the bill of materials and ask how its care compatibility will be established with the shell and other components. If a substitute is proposed, review its identity and transition again. Describe the feature by the supported material and placement, not by an invented temperature benefit. Record whether approval covers appearance, tactile preference or another assessed property, so the product description does not overstate what the sample review established.

What this brief does and does not establish

Handwarmer is used here as a pocket-design description, not a tested thermal promise. This brief does not verify material composition, care compatibility or MyOwnWear capability. Obtain named material evidence and a complete jacket sample for project decisions.

Send a pocket section showing the desired contact faces and ask for a named material proposal and sample review. Open the MyOwnWear RFQ form.

Buyer questions

Is the entry facing the whole pocket bag?

No. It is the material region at the opening; specify deeper contact surfaces separately.

Does a soft material prove warming performance?

No. Tactile preference and thermal evidence are different things.

Should a substitute be approved separately?

Yes. Its identity and behavior at the pocket interface need confirmation.
