Sublimated Polyester Panels: Separate Artwork Coverage from Garment Assembly

A sublimated polyester panel inquiry should identify the proposed fabric and decoration route, then distinguish the artwork boundary, cut boundary and finished visible panel. Ask the maker to confirm feasibility before fixing the process. Approve critical joins on an assembled sample rather than treating an uncut printed sheet as a finished-garment approval.

For streetwear design teams developing all-over printed panels.

Ask for the material-and-process pairing first

Provide the polyester material reference, its documented composition and finish where known, and the intended print effect. Request confirmation that the proposed decoration process is suitable for that exact material. Do not claim that all polyester behaves alike or that a specific color result follows from the fiber name. If the supplier proposes a different fabric, treat it as a separate sample option, not an equivalent substitution.

Keep three boundaries visible in the artwork file

Show the intended visible design, the panel cut line and the area available outside the cut line. Ask the production team to propose the required print extension; do not invent a universal bleed allowance. Identify any text or motif that must stay away from a finished edge. File labels should make it impossible to mistake a seam allowance or cutting guide for printable artwork.

Choose a join that can invalidate the design

Select the most important panel junction and specify what needs to meet across it: a stripe, image landmark or deliberately unmatched pattern. Request a printed-and-assembled section using the proposed material and file revision. Review the joined image and visible edge, then document any compromise. Color and placement approval for the panel should not silently approve garment fit, care performance or every size layout.

What this brief does and does not establish

No sublimation capability, substrate suitability, color permanence or all-over-print availability is asserted. The inquiry must establish feasibility and the applicable evidence.

Attach the three-boundary panel file and critical-join sketch to a MyOwnWear inquiry; ask for material suitability and a separately quoted development sample. Open the MyOwnWear RFQ form.

Buyer questions

Does polyester content alone confirm print suitability?

No. Ask for the proposed material and process pairing to be reviewed, including any finish information.

How much print bleed is required?

Request a project-specific production allowance. This guide does not prescribe a universal value.

Can an uncut print approve seam registration?

No. Registration at a garment join must be reviewed after the relevant panels are assembled.
