Lined or Unlined Streetwear Jackets: Build the RFQ Around Use
A jacket RFQ should state whether the body and sleeves are lined, partially lined or unlined, then show which seams and openings remain visible and how each edge is finished.
MyOwnWear buyer guide · Project-specific confirmation required
Map the coverage by component
A single label such as lined does not tell a maker whether the body, sleeves, hood or pockets receive a separate layer. Mark the coverage on a front, back and interior sketch. Identify partial facings, pocket bags and any mesh or insulation separately instead of treating them as a complete lining.
Specify the inside finish that buyers will see
For an unlined build, identify exposed seam allowances and the intended binding, overlock or other finish. For a lined build, show where the lining joins the zipper, cuff, hem and pocket openings. Call out any turned openings or access points needed for finishing or inspection.
Evaluate layering without guessing performance
State the intended under-layer and fit reference, then assess the sample with that layer. Ask the supplier to identify material composition and construction for the proposed lining. The word lined does not prove warmth, breathability or a particular drape; those outcomes depend on the complete materials and construction.
Compare quotes on the same interior scope
Ask each supplier to price the same component coverage, seam finishing, pocket treatment and label placement. List any proposed alternative as a separate option. This makes a construction difference visible instead of allowing a lower quote to conceal a missing lining panel or unfinished interior edge.
Buyer decision record
Record the garment style, material or trim reference, sample size, revision and the question being decided. If the supplier proposes a change, ask for the changed layer order, measurement or artwork location in a marked response before treating the quote or sample as comparable.

Buyer questions
Does lined always mean the sleeves are lined too?
No. State body, sleeve and other component coverage individually.
Can an unlined jacket have finished interior seams?
Yes. Specify the exposed seam treatment and approve it on the actual construction.
